最近Adobe Acrobatの使い方で、ものすごい発見をした。Adobe Acrobatは研究者がPCの画面上で論文を読む時に使う標準ツールである。もっと別のツールもあるが私はこれで論文に書き込みをする。最近、スクロールバーの上に謎の灰色の物体があることに気づいた。これを下に引っ張るとなんとPDFファイルを分割できる。これで本文と図を行ったり来たりしなくて良くなる。実は私は行ったり来たりするとどこを読んでいたのかすぐに見失ってしまう。これまではブラウザで図を見たり、PDFをプレビューでも開いたりして、なるべく現在地を見失わないようにしていた。この場合、二画面あればいいが、なければウィンドウを前後させることになって面倒である。
この発見以来、多少楽に論文を読めるようになった。ただ、欲を言えば無限に分割できるようにしてほしい。というのも引用文献やメソッド、サプリの図を見ることもあるからだ。ちなみに写真に出ている論文は私の研究には直接的な関わりはない。ただDDM1が好きなのである。
Lately, while exploring Adobe Acrobat, I made an incredible discovery. Adobe Acrobat is a standard tool researchers use to read papers on their PC screens. There are other tools available, but I use this one for annotating papers. Recently, I noticed a mysterious gray object above the scroll bar. To my surprise, dragging it downward allows you to split PDF files. This eliminates the need to constantly switch between the main text and figures. To be honest, I lose track of where I was when navigating back and forth. So, I've seen figures in the browser or opened the paper in Preview as well to avoid losing the place I am reading. It's cumbersome, especially without dual monitors, as you end up shuffling windows.
Since this discovery, reading papers has become somewhat easier. However, if I could be a bit greedy, I'd wish for the ability to split infinitely. This is because there are instances when I need to go see citations, methods, or supplementary figures. By the way, the paper featured in the photos has no direct relevance to my research. I just like DDM1.
