テレビのバラエティ番組でロシアン寿司を見るとロシアン寿司を握る職人の気持ちを考えてしまう。私は趣味でたこ焼きを作ることがあるのだが、時々ロシアンたこ焼きをやろうと提案される。とんでもない。何時間かけて煮干しと昆布の出汁を取っていると思っているのか。それをハズレだとか言って不味そうに食べられるのはたまったものではない。
When I see Russian-roulette sushi (one or a few pieces of sushi are loaded with an unexpected and intense wasabi) being made on a variety show, I can't help but think about the feelings of the sushi chef crafting Russian-roulette sushi. While I occasionally make takoyaki as a hobby, there are times when I'm suggested to try making Russian-roulette takoyaki (loaded with Habanero sauce inside unexpectedly). Absolutely not. Do they think I spend hours making dashi (soup stock) from dried bonito and kelp? It's quite disheartening when people dismiss it as a failure and eat it with a look of disgust.
