物心がついた時から私の部屋には地球儀があった。直径15センチメートルくらいだろうか。セピア色の上質な紙に島や大陸が描かれている。実はこの地球儀、完全に出鱈目である。海岸線の形は全くの作者の創造で、土地や海の名前も聞いたことがないし、何語かすらわからない。私はこの地球儀が本当に好きで、頻繁に眺めていた。いつ偽物だと気付いたのか覚えていない。誰が見つけて私にくれたのだろうか。まだ実家にあるだろうか。
Since I can remember, there has been a globe in my room. It's about 15 centimeters in diameter, crafted on sepia-toned, high-quality paper, with islands and continents delicately illustrated. The truth is, this globe is entirely fictional. The shapes of the coastlines are the complete creation of the author, and I've never heard the names of the lands or oceans depicted, let alone know the language they represent. I genuinely loved this globe and used to gaze at it frequently. I don't recall when I realized it was a fake. I wonder who discovered it and gave it to me. Is it still at my parents' house?
