アメリカの100大ミステリーの一つがPenn Stationである。Penn Stationは中速鉄道Amtrakのニューヨーク駅の名称で、Pennはウイリアム・ペンの苗字に由来すると思われる。欧米では駅や空港に人の名前が付くのは普通なので別に構わないが、個人的にはあまり好かない。NYC駅の方が分かりやすくて良くないか？
以前、Amtrakでボルチモアに行った。そこの駅名もなんとPenn Stationである。そしてもう一つ、ニューアークというニューヨーク市にほど近い街の駅の駅名もPenn Stationという。一体全体何がどうなっているのかさっぱり意味がわからない。ちなみにPennsylvania州Philadelphia市の駅はWilliam H. Gray III 30th Street駅という。そこはPenn Stationだろ。

Penn Station. I have absolutely no idea what's going on with all these Penn Stations. By the way, the station in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is called William H. Gray III 30th Street Station. Shouldn't that be Penn Station?
