私は暗く鬱屈とした作品を観る。観ても楽しくはない。ひどく落ち込むし、つらい。なぜこんな映画を観ているのかは長らく考えてきたが、やはり色々考えさせられるからだと思う。まだうまく言えない。
とりあえず今年観た良い陰鬱映画を忘れないように書き留めておく。後で軽いネタバレを含むあらすじと感想を書くので、注意してほしい。

I watch films that are dark and filled with melancholy. They are not enjoyable. It leaves me feeling down and distressed. I've contemplated why I subject myself to such movies for a long time, and I believe it's because they provoke various thoughts. I can't quite express it well yet.
For now, I want to jot down the impressive melancholic films I watched this year so I don't forget. Please be cautious as I'll provide brief summaries and impressions with some light spoilers later.

・星の子 | Hoshi no Ko (Stargirl)
芦田愛菜主演。両親が新興宗教に入信しており、自身はいわゆる宗教二世。明らかに悪徳教団で、完全に騙されている。周囲にも変な目で見られている。しかしこの家族には普通に家族愛があり、友達との友情もある。この作品を観て、少し優しくなれた気がする。ちなみに、ラストシーンは謎のほっこりエンドだが、私はこの後一家心中でもするんじゃないかと怖くて仕方がなかった。
Starring Mana Ashida. The protagonist is a second-generation member of a new religious cult, which is clearly corrupt. The family is deceived by them. But there's genuine familial love within them, as well as friendship with others. Watching this film made me feel a bit more compassionate. The last scene is mysteriously heartwarming, although I couldn't shake the fear that the family might commit mass suicide afterward.
・MOTHER
長澤まさみ主演、二児の母親役。長男と妹は育児放棄されているが、母親に依存・奉仕するよう洗脳されている。母親は子どもたちを歪んだ愛で包み、自身も子どもに依存している。共依存状態。長澤まさみの凄まじい狂気が見られる。星の子と同じ、大森監督。大森監督はこのような精神的な二項対立と共存のようなものを描いているのだと思う。
Starring Masami Nagasawa as a mother of two. The eldest son and the sister are neglected in terms of childcare but have been indoctrinated to depend on and serve their mother. The mother envelops her children in a distorted form of love, while she herself is dependent on them. It's a codependent situation. Masami Nagasawa displays incredible madness. Same as "Hoshi no Ko," this film is directed by Oomori. He seems to depict a psychological binary opposition and coexistence.
・マンチェスター・バイ・ザ・シー | Manchester by the Sea
主人公の男(ケイシー・アフレック)はひどく感情表現に乏しくずっとムスッとした表情をしている。愛想が悪い。バーで急にキレて他の客を殴ったりして、情緒不安定である。兄の死をきっかけに地元のマンチェスター・バイ・ザ・シー(ボストン郊外の町)に帰り、徐々に彼の過去が回想される。つらい。辛過ぎる。私はしばらくお酒を飲めなかった。とりあえず酔っ払って火を使うのはやめよう。
The male protagonist (Casey Affleck) is emotionally reserved, constantly wearing a gloomy expression. He's unfriendly, erupting in anger at a bar, punching other customers, displaying emotional instability. Returning to his hometown of Manchester by the Sea, a suburb of Boston, after his brother's death, gradually reveals his past. It's painful, too painful. I couldn't drink alcohol for a while. Let's refrain from getting drunk and using fire right now.
・真紅 | Shinku (Deep Red)
少女は小学校の修学旅行中に一家が惨殺され、真夜中に急遽タクシーで4時間かけて戻る。一人だけ生き残った少女は成人しても4時間の記憶が消えない。彼女は加害者の娘に会いに行く。その娘はバーテンダーとして働いており、客として何気なく近づく。親しくなるにつれ、加害者の娘が結婚しDVに遭っていること、そして互いの親の関係性が明らかになる。この主人公の加害者の娘に対する感情が物語が進むにつれて変化する。DV夫の殺人を教唆し、協力を申し出たりもする。心理描写が良くて、奇妙だが妙に分かる。ちなみに少女時代を演じているのは堀北真希。アメリカでは視聴できず、帰国時にDVDをレンタルして観た。
A girl's family is brutally murdered during an elementary school field trip. She rushes back by taxi for four hours in the middle of the night. The lone survivor, the girl grows up, but the memory of those four hours doesn't fade. She finds and visits the murderer's daughter. The daughter works as a bartender, and they casually get closer by intention. As their relationship grows, it's revealed that the murderer's daughter is married and suffering from domestic violence, and the dynamics between their parents become clear. The protagonist's feelings toward the murderer's daughter change as the story progresses. The psychological depiction is excellent and strangely understandable. By the way, playing the girl in her childhood is Maki Horikita. I couldn't watch it in America, so I rented the DVD when I returned home.
・ミュージアム | Museum
小栗旬主演、刑事。仕事ばかりで家族との関係は悪く、離婚寸前。そんな中、連続猟奇殺人事件が発生。犯人は「芸術を理解しない愚かな人間を処刑する」という趣旨の声明を出す。被害者の共通項が明らかになり、とある裁判員裁判の陪審員であった。その裁判には妻が参加していた。しかし犯人が分からない。妻と息子が拉致され、捜査中に刑事も拉致され、犯人の芸術世界に巻き込まれる。小栗旬はイッちゃってる人間を演じたらピカイチである。犯人の動機もキモいし背景もキモい。殺し方が一々グロテスクなので閲覧注意。主人公が妻と息子の体の一部を見つけるシーンは吐き気が止まらなかった。
Starring Shun Oguri as a detective. Consumed by work, he has a strained relationship with his family and is on the verge of divorce. Meanwhile, a series of gruesome murders occurs. The culprit declares a purpose of "executing foolish people who don't understand art." The commonality among the victims becomes clear, and it's revealed that they are jurors in a certain jury trial, which his wife participated in as a juror. The culprit remains unknown. The detective’s wife and son are kidnapped, and during the investigation, he is also kidnapped and gets entangled in the world of the culprit's art. Oguri is exceptional at portraying a person who's losing it. The culprit's motive and background are creepy. The murder scenes are grotesque, so viewer discretion is advised. The scene where the protagonist finds a part of his wife and son's bodies made me nauseous.
